The writing center has been a great tool for me throughout the last semester helping me proofread, get a plan together and even helping me start off on something like a paper or a personal narrative. The one thing this semester that the writing fellows have helped me with most was the research paper during the third quarter. For my first trip to the writing center during the second semester, I was going to get help correcting my research paper rough draft and getting rid of or changing the parts that were paraphrased incorrectly, meaning they were plagiarized. They showed me how to make sure I was careful not to plagiarize. They also showed me how to correctly put in text citations on quotations. We went through and talked about better ways to phrase the writing and how to completely change the sentence without changing the meaning. This meeting really helped me feel more confident about my own writing for the research paper instead of using others' words.
